Lessons, clubs, after-school care and holiday camps in Amsterdam

The list runs from Noord across the IJ to Zuidoost and Nieuw-West, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, and takes in the municipalities around the city, from Zaanstad and Diemen to Amstelveen. Most places offer football, dance and music; Amstelveen, Zaanstad and Geuzenveld are the areas with the most places. Dutch primary schools let out early in the afternoon, and earlier still on Wednesday. From there a child can go on to a lesson or a club’s training at a set time, swimming lessons for the A, B and C diplomas among them, or stay at a BSO, where trained staff look after children until about half past six in the evening. During the school holidays there are holiday camps, and most BSOs run holiday care (vakantieopvang).
